Experiential Learning Opportunities

Experiential learning opportunities are critical for building career confidence, enhancing your resume, and expanding your network in order to make your future career search a success.

Internships
The Biomedical Career Initiative, a program of PDCO, offers 3-month internship opportunities in industry, consulting, patent law, science policy, business, and communication.

SMILE
SMILE is the University Experiential Learning platform that connects current students and postdocs to paid campus internships and employment opportunities across Johns Hopkins University.

JHTV Commercialization Academy
The JHTV Commercialization Academy is a highly competitive program that provides Johns Hopkins full-time students with exposure to the fields of commercialization and entrepreneurship through a two-year paid fellowship.

Teaching Academy
The Teaching Academy offers Ph.D. students and Post-doctoral Fellows from all divisions across Johns Hopkins University, college teacher training and academic career preparation opportunities through courses, workshops, teaching practicums, teaching-as-research fellowships, and individual consultation.

Johns Hopkins Graduate Consulting Club
The Johns Hopkins Graduate Consulting Club (JHGCC) is a student-led organization that aims to introduce graduate students and staff at Johns Hopkins University to a career in business consulting. Members have the opportunity compete in case competitions and work on pro-bono projects with real-world clients.

Biomedical Odyssey
The Biomedical Odyssey is where JHU School of Medicine trainees share stories about daily life in the classroom, their experiences with residency, research they're working on, the best parts about living in Baltimore and tips for future medical students, trainees and researchers. Biannually, they select a cohort of bloggers who commit to writing approximately one blog post per month. The bloggers work with a student editor and the marketing and communications team at Johns Hopkins Medicine to brainstorm, edit and post their work.

Student Group Leadership
Getting involved in student groups is an excellent way to gain leadership and professional skills.
